Faye Smith Mathieu's Obituary
Faye Smith Mathieu, 91, went to be with her Savior Jesus on October 11, 2010. She was beloved wife of John P. Mathieu , who preceded her on October 2, 2010. Faye was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the youngest of eight children and was born in Sharpsburg, Georgia (south of Atlanta); she graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Star High School and went to work in Atlanta where she met her husband John. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 4, 2009. Faye was a member of First Evangelical Church, Kings Daughters, and The Salvation Army. She was an accomplished artist who studied under the late Paul Penczner. Faye is survived by her daughter, Heather Amuny (Jack); sons, John Mathieu (Kathy) and Bill Mathieu (Rosemary); grandchildren, Heather Amuny-Dey (Jeff), David and John Mathieu and Sydney and Rachel Mathieu; great-granddaughter, Arden Dey. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, in the chapel at Kirby Pines Retirement Community, with John Mathieu, Don Johnson and Jeff Findlay presiding. The interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
