Faris Earl Jennings Jr.'s Obituary
Faris Earl Jennings, Jr., known by his family and friends as Rocky, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis on Friday, January 19, 2024. Rocky was born in Memphis on March 31, 1947. Rocky graduated from Memphis Technical High School. He attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, Mississippi, and he graduated from Miller Hawkins Business College with an Associates degree in IBM Data Processing Accounting. Rocky served in the Navy honorably aboard the USS Ponchatoula. Rocky also worked for the Memphis and Shelby County Public Library beginning in 1974 and retired in 2002 to care for his ailing mother. Rocky was preceded in death by his parents Faris Earl and Martha Virginia Jennings, and his favorite cat, Boo. In Memphis, Rocky is survived by his longtime friends Ronnie Farris and Debbie Odom and his favorite Visiting Angel, Andromeda Smith.
The celebration of Rocky’s life will be held in the rotunda of the mausoleum at Memorial Park on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm with the service starting at 2:00 pm including military honors.
