Ezell Harris' Obituary
Ezell Rowland Harris, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on April 22, 2025, following a brief illness. In January, Ezell suffered a fall which resulted in a broken leg, ultimately contributing to her passing. Even in her final days, her spirit remained unbroken. Her passing came just three days after that of her beloved sister, Wilma Jordan.
Ezell’s life was a testament to the quiet strength and unwavering love of a devoted homemaker. For the majority of her life, she dedicated herself to her family, creating a warm and loving home. This nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family; for over 40 years, Ezell shared her kindness and patience by teaching two- to four-year-olds at Colonial Baptist Church. Her gentle nature and dedication to early childhood education touched countless young lives. She also worked on Tuesday and Thursdays at Colonial’s Mother’s Day Out Program for many years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Willie Joe Harris, and sisters Wilma Jordan and Nylene Cox. Ezell is survived by her son, Milton Joe Harris and his wife, Lea Anne, and her cherished granddaughter, Katie Lea Harris. The love she shared with her family will remain a legacy.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ezell’s name to CrossPointe Church Kids Ministry, 8515 Cedar Crest Lane, Olive Branch, MS 38654. This ministry, supporting the education of young children, was a cause very close to Ezell’s heart, and a fitting tribute to her life’s work. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The family invites friends to gather Wednesday April 30, 2025 for services at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119.
