Budge lived a long and full life, but what I will remember most is the joy he brought to those around him. He was almost always smiling, quick with a joke or a smart-aleck remark, and his humor made even ordinary moments brighter.
I have many fond memories of Budge, but two stand out most clearly: the first time I met him and the last time I saw him. He was the very first person I met when we moved into the neighborhood, and his warmth and friendliness immediately made it feel like home. I was going door to door, asking neighbors various questions about the builder, etc., and Budge was the first one to come to the door.
The last time I saw Budge, after a long illness and hospital stay, he looked remarkably well—strong, present, and still very much himself. That image stays with me and brings comfort.
I am grateful to have known Budge and to have shared in his kindness, humor, and spirit. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
With deepest sympathy,
Linda Dalton
