Evelyn Horrell's Obituary
Evelyn Foote Horrell, 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 16, 2012. Mrs. Horrell was an active member of Union Avenue Baptist Church for 85 years where she was she served for many years as Junior Department leader and President of the church’s Women’s Missionary Organization. She was Church Librarian and was instrumental in the Library’s conversion to computers in her late 80’s. She loved her church and her God. She had also been involved with the Tenn-Ark-Miss Council of the Girls Scouts of America and served as president of the organization the year of their 50th anniversary in 1959. She was an inspiration for all those who came into contact with her. Evelyn, the widow of Robert E. Horrell, is survived by beloved members of her family: son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Eula Horrell; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Scott Heppel; granddaughter and her husband, Chris and Tom Allen and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Allen, all of NW Arkansas; her nieces on her sister’s side, Genie Gray and Laney Lewis and great niece, Piper Gray; numerous nieces and nephews and their children on her husband’s side and her good friend Vernita Currie and her other care givers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at Union Avenue Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service begins with interment immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
