Evelyn Causey's Obituary
EVELYN LUMBLEY CAUSEY, of Bartlett, died on January 12, 2011 after a long illness. She was the wife of James D. Causey, a retired Memphis Attorney. Ms. Causey was born in Hooks, Texas, and attended undergraduate school at East Texas State, which later became Texas A&M. She received her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Following her graduation from Vanderbilt University, she taught school at Delta State College, Cleveland, Mississippi, where she met her husband to be. The Causeys moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Ms. Causey taught in the Business Department of the University of Florid for two years. Later, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where Mr. Causey began the practice of law. Ms. Causey was on the staff of the University of Memphis, in the School of Business, until her first child was born. After the birth of her first child, Ms Causey did not resume teaching; rather, she devoted her time to being a wife and mother. Ms. Causey is survived by her husband, James D. Causey, one son, James D. Causey, Jr., one daughter, Catherine Causey Byrd (Steve Byrd); two granddaughters, Taryn Elizabeth Causey and Laura Allison Byrd, and one sister, Jean Edwards of Hooks, Texas. Visitation will be on Friday, January 14 from 1 p.m. until service at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
