Eva Gene Watts October 8th, 1931 – July 18th, 2013Eva Gene Watts, of Novato, California, left this world surrounded by loved ones on July 18th, 2013. Eva, who always preferred Gene, was born in Flint Michigan on October 8th, 1931. Gene grew up in Flint and East St. Louis before moving to Northern California as a young woman. It was there that she met her life long love, a strapping career Navy man, Clyde Vernon Watts. Clyde and Gene married in November 1952 and settled in to the military life. In the early 60’s, they were deployed to the island of Guam in the Pacific where they were blessed with their only child, a lovely daughter, Judy Gayle. The young family eventually settled back in Northern California and called Fremont their home.Gene was a devoted mother and her daughter meant the world to her. Gene was blessed later in life with three grand children. Gene was so proud her family, and she rarely missed their important milestones. She will always be remembered for her feisty sense of humor and her street smarts. She loved to play cards and was a bit of a card shark who never liked to lose. She adored her dog Lucy who was always by her side, and Regis Philbin who was always on her TV. Just for the record – she did not like Kathy Lee or democrats!Gene is survived by her daughter Judy Ash, her son-in-law Terry Ash, her grandson Kevin Ash, her grand daughters Meghan Ash and Bailey Ash, and her cousins John & Denise Keeler of Florida. Gene was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Vernon, in February, 1996.Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, in Memphis TN at 11:30AM on Saturday August 17th.
