Eva Jean Rule Gallup's Obituary
Eva Jean Rule Gallup, age 98, passed away on July 14, 2012 at Allen Morgan Health Care Center, in Memphis, TN. She was born on January 22, 1914 in Crystal City, TX, the daughter of Robert T. Rule and Mary G. Mangum Rule. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jere A. Gallup and 4 brothers: Robert N. Rule, Burt C. Rule, Elmo M. Rule and Glen C. Rule. When 4 years old, she and her parents moved to Hemphill, TX. She graduated from Hemphill High School in 1932 , and attended Mary Hardin Baylor in 1935. In 1937, she married Jere A. Gallup on March 8th. Together they had 2 children, Jere R. Gallup and Len Jean Crombie. She spend the next 25 years as a supportive, loving wife and mother of a military family. The retirement years led her to San Antonio, TX. Jean continued her higher education and graduated with honors from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, TX in 1976. In 1978, she earned her masters degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX. She and Jere A. Gallup were married 65 years. His passing was in 2002. Jean Rule Gallup is survived by her son, Jere R. Gallup and wife, Nan Gallup of Miami, FL; her daughter, Len Jean Crombie and husband, Fritz Crombie of Germantown, TN, a granddaughter, Sally Len Hostetter and husband William Taylor Hostetter, Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA and 3 great grand children, Jelena Hostetter, Alex Hostetter, and Michael Hostetter, of Lawrenceville, GA. Two sisters-in-law, Oleta Rule, and Ara Rule. The following nieces and nephews: Jean Anderson, Gary Rule, Patricia Rodigue, Frank Rule, Dixie Jean Reese, Ronnie Rule, Tim Rule, Lois Austin, Don Miller, Betty Terrell, Danny Crosswhite,Clyde Crosswhite, Mildrid Norcross, Gilbert Gallup, and Hollis Gallup, Jr..Funeral services will be made through the Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill, TX and interment will be at the Hemphill Cemetery, Hemphill, TX (409-787-3331)
