Eugene Leonard Steele's Obituary
Eugene Leonard Steele, 86, passed away on May 20, 2021. He was born on July 12, 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Algoma High School in Pontotoc, Mississippi and attended classes at Memphis State University.
Mr. Steele was an officer with the Memphis Police Department until he began a career with several firms in the trucking industry. He started a roofing and construction business and was a longtime owner of Remodelers Construction Company.
He was a member of Balmoral Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a member of the Normal Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Al Chymia Shrine.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Mary Alice Steele; two sons Ronald (Teresa) and Anthony (Cindy). He leaves 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He leaves his sister, Mary House.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Martin D. and Marilda Steele; three brothers, O.C., James Rhea, and Joe Steele; and one sister, Sara Crawford.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Balmoral Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.
