Esther McCoy Prieto's Obituary
Esther McCoy Prieto, 80, died Sunday July 5, 2009 at St Frances Hospital in Memphis.Mrs. Prieto was a charter member of the St. Joseph East Hospital Auxiliary which later became St. Francis Hospital. She was named St. Francis Hospital volunteer of the year in 2005. She was a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and a longtime member of the Memphis Camera Club where she also served as former President. She was on the Mid South Fair Exhibition Committee, served as President from 1997-1998, , Board Program Chair, Scholarship Committee, Ways & Means, and served as Vice President.Mrs. Prieto was preceded in death by her husband 0f 34 years Louis Prieto.She is survived by her 9 children; Robert Proctor (Mary), Larry Proctor, Doug Proctor, Karen Grant, Linda Mathis (Walter), Martha Dungy (Bill), Lucinda Sheppard (Leon), Judy Martin (Ruben), and Jackie Heenan (Jim), one brother, Charles McCoy (Jeanie), 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.The family requests that memorials be sent to St Francis Hospital Auxiliary in the benefit of the Louie Prieto Scholarship Fund, or to the Salvation Army Purdue Center of Hope.
