Ernest Morris' Obituary
Ernest Stephen Morris Jr. “Steve”, age 83, died on Saturday October 13, 2012. He was born on July 14th, 1929 and raised in Somerville, TN. He graduated from Fayette County High School where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball and track. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Air Force .While stationed at Fordland Air Force base in Missouri he met Elizabeth J. Franke, his Princess, the love of his life, and married her 6 months later. They moved several times before settling in Memphis. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration for 32 years before his retirement in 1985. He then began a partnership with his oldest son Randy, as a builder with Morris Home Builders. He had a passion for farming his land in Fayette County, raising horses and UT Vols football. He was preceded in death by his wife just 4 short months ago. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in November of this year. He leaves his 7 children, Carol Preuss (Ron) of Luray, TN, Randy Morris (Vicki), Keith Morris (Connie), Terri Lamberth (Chuk), Joanie Cunningham (John), Susan Shaw (Tim), and Sharon Pasley all of Collierville. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. He also leaves his constant companion PoPo. Visitation will be Monday, October 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Williston, TN. The family requests that memorials be sent to Ebenezer Cemetery Association, 5745 Ebenezer Loop Somerville, TN. 38068 The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heather and Sandra with Methodist Hospice for their gentleness and kindness the last few months.
