Ernie was always faithful to provide great service in an upbeat and friendly manner. His love for and treasured relationships with you, his family, was vert evident in our conversations. I am so sorry for your loss. Becky and I thought the world of Ernie. He was a kind and steadfast friend. We attended church together where we raised our sweet girls. We followed the Tigers, played many a round of golf, and enjoyed the occasional lunch or dinner together where we attempted to solve a great many of the world's problems. I am so sorry to hear of Ernie's passing, but wanted to share my memories. We lived in directly across the street at 1955 Felix, in the 50's/60's.. Ernie and I played together many days as kids. We walked to Peabody Elementary together. We attended Fairview and Central together also. My name is Jerry Mullins. My brothers and sisters were very friendly with Floyd, Barbara Ernie and Vera. Louis was a bit older. We hated to see them move. Our last contact was 30 years ago when my father passed away and the Harris family came to pay their respects. We were thrilled to connect with them on that occasion. I was also thrilled to read of Ernie's faith and service to his church. I send greetings and condolences for my family, which includes Ann, Russ, Dick and me. Charlie passed in 2019. He and Ernie ran into one another in Memphis over the years and he always passed along a greeting from Ernie. .Russ is in hospice and may not be with us much longer. Childhood memories are among our most treasured and for me that includes Ernie. I moved away in 1970 and lost track with many friends and neighbors from Central and from Felix/ Cooper and Young but the memories never fade. We are a praying family and will remember the Harris family and legacy in our prayers. God Bless you and provide comfort and assurance during this time.
