Ernest John "Ernie" Csedrik's Obituary
Ernest John "Ernie " Csedrik age 84 died March 19,2024 at Select Specialty LTACH after a short stay at the Methodist University Hospital location. He had shown amazing strength of will, spirit and faith during his illness.
Ernie was born May 31st, 1939, at home in Astoria Queens, NY. Raised from age 2 in Coatesville, PA, where he worked at Lukens Steel Co. after graduating from St. Agnes High School in 1956. He later earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Temple University.
Following college graduation Ernie worked for Ford Motor Co. until 1976 when he joined International Paper Co. After working in the Manhattan office for 13 years he made the transfer to Memphis, TN in 1987. Ernie retired from IP in 2001. One of his favorite positions was college recruiting and he enjoyed counseling young people regarding education and career development long after retirement.
Ernie loved to play golf. He joined Houston Levee, now Memphis National Golf Club soon after moving to Memphis and held standing tee times on Saturday and Sunday mornings for many years. When meeting someone for the first time, his first question was usually do you play golf.
A loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary Csedrik. He is survived by his wife Jane, sons Ernest (Jen), Lewis (Joanne), Chris Mosby (Cassie), his brother George Csedrik, grandchildren Max, Anja, Oliver, Vio, Francis, Andrew, Layne, Annaclaire and Michael.
Funeral Mass will be April 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
