Erna Anna Durr's Obituary
Erna Anna Durr – 87 died peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2013 at her home in Cordova, Tennessee. She is survived by her two children, John Durr III of Memphis and Julie Crohan of Cary, NC. She has a granddaughter, Shannon Choo and 2 great grandchildren Aislinn (8) and Ethan (5). She also leaves behind her beloved friend and companion dog, Murphy. Born December 27, 1925 in Nuremberg Germany, Erna Durr was the only daughter of Josef and Julia Boches. She trained as a seamstress in her father’s tailoring business, and she survived the bombing of her home in Nuremberg during World War II. After the war she met and later married the love of her life John Thomas Durr Jr., a medic for the Army Air Corps on September 11, 1948. They returned to her husband’s home in Memphis the same year where she worked full time at Stanley Home products and made a home and family [raised her children, John and Julie]. They remained married until his death in 1997. Erna Durr was a strong, intelligent woman, and a beloved wife and mother. She will be sorely missed and not forgotten by all who had the honor of knowing her. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00, Sunday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, services will be at Grace St Luke’s on Monday, February 25th at 11 am with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
