Emory "Lonnie" Whitaker III's Obituary
“Emory Lon “Lonnie” Whitaker III, 68, died at 9:00 PM on October 13, 2017 after an 18 month battle with cancer. Lonnie was a supportive father and a stalwart husband. He served as a medic in the Vietnam War, and he embodied support for his family in many ways. Born in Memphis, he was the son of Emory Lon Whitaker Jr. and Cora Sue Whitaker of Russellville, AR. He is preceded by his father, Emory Lon Whitaker Jr., and his nephew, John Clifton Whitaker. He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Lee Whitaker, and stepdaughter, Jennifer Bailey Hutchinson of Memphis, TN; his brother, Michael J. Whitaker and his wife Sharon of Pittsburg, PA; his brother John D. Whitaker and his wife Janet of Oakland, TN; his nephew J. Aaron Whitaker of Memphis, TN; niece Jennifer Wadsworth of Pittsburgh, PA; Janet Whitaker of Denver, CO; three great nephews, and one great niece—all of whom will miss him greatly.”The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18 in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
