My sincere condolences to Mr. Emmett's family. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but I've known about him my whole life as my father, Russ "Doc" Berry served with him in Vietnam. Daddy always had good things to say about his Vietnam buddies and I'll always have a great respect for the heroes who served with him. Rest In Peace.

Emmett was full of Southern charm, personality and kindness. He and my husband Jack became friends in OCS. Their friendship became a bond that formed in Viet Nam and continues to this day. He was a precious friend and I enjoyed his visits to our home, in D.C. at Veteran’s Day reunions and phone conversations. I knew of Emmett Wilson long before I ever met him in person from Jack’s photos and stories. I’m thankful my sons shared a special reunion in D.C. with Emmett. They met him as children, but they got to spend some time with him again. He was special, a caring friend, and a wonderful man.

My first time of meeting Emmett was 2015 when we hosted a reunion for the First CAV guys here in Georgia, I realized then why my husband, Russ “Doc” Berry, thought so much of him, I liked him immediately. When we saw him again in D.C. with Kathleen, his love for her was so obvious, he was a true gentleman. I know she will miss him terribly as well as all of his devoted family members. We will be praying for God’s comfort for you all, God bless.

My wife, Debra, and I were blessed to have met Emmitt over 40 years ago through a mutual friend, Kermit Lee. From that time on our friendship with Emmitt and his lovely wife, Kathleen, developed into a fun and adventurous true friendship that will always have lasting memories. We especially enjoyed the times we spent together on Caribbean cruises and our trips to Mexico. It is not possible to describe the joy, respect and happiness that Emmitt brought into our lives. Our days are much brighter for having had Emmitt as a true friend. Such a remarkable man! Lastly, thank you Emmitt for your friendship and love and especially your devoted service to our country.
