Emmett Gallagher's Obituary
Emmett Edward Gallagher, Sr. passed away November 16, 2012. Emmett was born in Ackerman, MS and moved to Memphis, TN when he was a boy. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School and a member of the Christian Brothers Hall of Fame. Mr. Gallagher served his community as well as his country. He served two years in the Army then returned to his job in the lumber business after his honorable discharge. Emmett continued his work in the lumber business for 63 years. He recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Memphis Area Home Builders Association for his contributions and innovation of the lumber industry in the Memphis area. Emmett was a parishioner of the Church of the Incarnation and was very active in the senior group. In his earlier years he was president of the Parochial Athletic Association and instrumental in the development of the athletic program and facilities at St. Paul Catholic School. He was a fourth degree Knight with The Knights of Columbus, Council 5062. Emmett is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Gallagher; his daughter Lynn Gallagher; daughter, Pam Annaratone and her children Alexis Nelius and Adam Annaratone; son, Skip Gallagher and his wife Beth, and their children, Allison Thigpen and Will Gallagher; and son, Scott Gallagher and his wife Pam and their children, Zachary, Benjamin, and Gracey Gallagher. The family requests memorials be sent to the Poor Clare Nuns in Memphis or the Church of the Incarnation. The visitation will be held Sunday, November 18th, from 4-7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with Rosary at 5:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Incarnation, burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
