Emma Jean Sigman's Obituary
Emma Jean Sigman, 96, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on December 1, 1927, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late George R. Arnold and Eunice Ann (Broadwell) Arnold. Jean, as she was known to many, had a remarkable life that began in humble beginnings during the depression era. She was raised in St. Peters orphanage like many children of her time and went on to complete her high school education at St. Vincent’s Academy girls boarding school in Kentucky.
Jean's strong work ethic led her to take on various roles throughout her life. She worked multiple jobs at times, including as an executive assistant at Sears, an usher at the Memphis Coliseum, and a security guard at Pinkerton Security Company. Her career culminated as an administrative assistant for Pickett Equipment.
Jean was generous beyond her means, always giving to those that crossed her path. She loved to get out and shop, was an avid reader, and loved murder mysteries. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her and leave a lasting legacy in their hearts. Truly one of a kind.
Jean is survived by her brother, Fred Arnold; her son, Jack Sigman; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Contributions in memory of Jean Sigman can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
