Emily Stewart's Obituary
Emily Blevins Stewart, age 99, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Ocean Springs MS. Born on June 5, 1914 to Jennie and John Blevins, she was the second of four children and grew up in Van Buren Arkansas. She studied to be a bookkeeper and worked in Arkansas and Tennessee. Emily was very active in church work and was a longtime member of Wesleyan Hills Methodist Church in Memphis, TN, winning a state award for her work in their clothes closet. She enjoyed raising her children, gardening and reading. Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Warren M. Stewart, her daughter, Betty Johnsey, her parents, as well as her three brothers. Emily is survived by her daughter, Anne Hawkins, her grandchildren, Warren Johnsey and Melanie Hawkins, her great-grandson, Michael Hawkins, as well as her niece, Mary Jo Douglas and her husband Jim. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Memphis, TN at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on that day.
