Emily Glenn's Obituary
Emily Moore Glenn, 52, passed away on November 29, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends, and listening to hymns, following a year long battle with cancer. During this greatest fight of her life, she glorified God and encouraged others by her positive spirit and a smile that remained constant.Emily was born in Memphis, TN on October 6, 1965 to the late Bobby and Joyce Moore. She grew up in a loving home where she learned about Christ from an early age. Along with her siblings Steve, Cheryl, and Holly, she grew up watching her Dad and Mom model Christ while he led several churches as pastor, most notably at Broadway Baptist Church in Memphis and later Southaven, MS. She followed their example and became a Christian at an early age.She attended Liberty University and graduated from Union University in 1988. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. After college, she worked at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. In 1991, she married the love of her life, John Glenn. This began a twenty-six year marriage and the formation of a home known for its hospitality and laughter. They attended Germantown Baptist Church. John and Emily raised three children Elisabeth, Jonathan, and Rebekah. Later they added a son-in-law, Elisabeth’s husband Zach, and of course, the world’s most beautiful grandchild, Evelyn. One of her greatest joys resulted when she made the decision to homeschool her children. Her life became devoted to this task. The children she raised are a testimony to her diligence and prayer on their behalf.Emily never tired of trying new things, whether it was snow skiing, camping, coaching girl’s basketball or even square dancing. Mostly, she never tired of loving Jesus and glorifying Christ. Her family will never forget her and will always feel her absence; but they will also never stop being reminded of the love she had for them and the example of courage and godliness which she leaves.Emily is survived by her husband, John Glenn; her children Elisabeth (Zach) Seal, Jonathan Glenn, and Rebekah Glenn; her granddaughter Evelyn Seal; her siblings Steve (Kim) Moore, Cheryl Wemp, and Holly (Steve) Maroney; her mother-in-law Martha Glenn; her sister-in-law Debbie Glenn; her aunts Vera (Royce) Agerter and Carolyn Hudson; her uncle Fred Henry; many loved nieces and nephews; many cousins; and more friends than could ever be listed here.Services for Emily will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church, 3170 Houston Levee Road, Collierville, TN 38027.
