Emil Dwayne Frisch's Obituary
Emil Dwayne Frisch passed peacefully in Collierville, TN at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House on Friday, December 9th, 2022, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his wife Clytie Doris Jennings Frisch, his parents Margaret Louise Mark Frisch and Floyd Emil Charles Frisch.
Mr. Frisch was born in Tawas City, Michigan and raised in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated in 1961 with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the highly respected GMC General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. It was referred to as the "West Point of the Automobile industry". He was a member of the Phi Tau Alpha fraternity.
After graduation, Mr. Frisch traveled for a few years as a GMC heavy-duty and coach truck manufacturing consultant and then as a salesman. With a short stay in Memphis, he met Doris Jennings whom he married. Eventually moving to Germantown, TN, they raised their two children and developed treasured friendships within the community. They remained in Germantown for the rest of their lives. He was a spectacularly supportive father and will greatly missed by his “two girls”.
While employed at General Truck Sales and Service, he was one of nations leading GMC truck salespeople. He served on the Grand Masters Council, the highest rank which could be achieved in the GMC Truck & Coach, General Motors Corporation. He won countless awards and trips rewarding his dedication, expertise at sales, and his ability to connect with people. He developed long term friendships that spanned decades in the transportation and trucking industry in Memphis and the surrounding areas. In the last years of his career, he took up driving for Mid-South Express Delivery where had a myriad of adventures on his long-haul trips.
While he was a University of Memphis Tigers fan, he still loved to see the University of Michigan Wolverines win. He was passionate about working in his front yard (of which he was very proud!), had wry sense of humor, and adored his many dogs over the years.
Mr. Frisch is survived by two daughters; Allyson Frisch, partner Jeremy Snell, grandson Brenden Snell; Kristi Frisch, husband Trenton Pitts, step-granddaughter Harper Pitts; and two sisters Ruth Anne Wingett, husband Doug Wingett, and Billie Jane Schuricht, husband Philip Schuricht. He also leaves behind countless other precious family spread across the country.
There will be a Celebration of Life visitation at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Memphis Humane Society to celebrate his dog Hershey.
