Mrs. Elwyn King's Obituary
ELWYN FOWLER KING, 88, went to be with her Lord on August 18, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born in Martin, TN to Tom and Bernice Hall Fowler and grew up at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a longtime Memphian and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where she met her devoted husband of 63 years, Richard L. King. Among many other responsibilities, they taught and enjoyed the BASIC class together. She also leaves her son, Kenneth (Nebra) King of Memphis and Karen (Barry) McGlothin of Tuscaloosa, AL. Known as “Mama E.” to her eight grandchildren, she also leaves eight great-grandchildren, who are forever blessed by her unselfish love and service. She also leaves two sisters, Julia Penick of Murray, KY and Mozelle (Neil) McKendry of Luray, VA; and a brother, Larry (Mary Elder) Fowler of Martin, TN. She loved her large extended family including nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday, August 20 from 5-7 p.m., and the funeral services will be Sunday, August 21 at 2 p.m.
