Elizabeth Lynn McMaster's Obituary
Elizabeth Lynn McMaster, née Elizabeth Lynn Ray, passed away early Thursday morning, June 20, at her home. She was a graduate of Highland Academy in Portland, Tennessee, and had a full career in human resources. A Memphis, Tennessee native and lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, she was a current member of Memphis First Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Raleigh.
Elizabeth truly loved gardening, watering the plants, and took real pride in cutting her “small patch of grass”. Later in life, she learned to love riding a bike and put many miles on the Germantown Trail system. She also loved to walk. She played the piano beautifully and loved to sing. Traveling with her family was one of the highlights of her life.
The true light of her life was her family. Her sister Pat, her son Steve, his wife, and their two children were what she spent her time and energy on. There was nothing more important to her than her church and her family. She loved music, especially John Denver, the old gospel hymns, and Anne Murray. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was one of her favorites. She made sure to instill a strong belief in faith, family, and hard work. She was passionate and the rock of our family. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Steve Weatherly, his wife Cindy, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Olivia Weatherly. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Patricia Brownlow of Germantown, Tennessee, and her brother Malcom Williams Ray of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Williams Ray, and her father, Malcolm Raymond Ray.
She was laid to her final rest mid-morning, June 23, 2024, at Grace Gardens of Memorial Park, Memphis, Tennessee.
