Elizabeth McCaughan's Obituary
Elizabeth McCaughan, age 93, passed away, of natural causes, in the early morning hours of February 1, 2012. Everyone knew her as Aunt Dudie. She had resided at Bright Glade Nursing Home in Memphis for the past 15 months. Dudie was born & raised, in her early life, in South Plains, GA and moved to Memphis when she was a young girl. Her working career was at Proctor & Gamble for over 40 years. Aunt Dudie was predeceased by her parents, Robert Earl & Claire McCaughan, her sister & brother-in-law, Roy & Anne Fears and her niece, Jo Anne Fears Jolly. Dudie never married, but she had a wonderful and loving family with her all of her life. She was a lifelong member of Bellevue Baptist Church and she enjoyed travelling. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii in 1984 with Jo Anne and now she is in ‘Heaven’ with her parents and Roy, Anne and Jo Anne. She leaves her cousins in Georgia, Mary Will Long and husband Jim as well as Malcome Marchman & John Hartsfield and her nephew-in-law and caretaker, Van Jolly of Memphis, Jo Anne’s husband. Aunt Dudie will be missed, but she is thrilled to be “Home with Jesus”. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joe Jernigan of Bellevue Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, Aunt Dudie would ask for any donation to be made to Mid America Seminary and to Love Worth Finding thru Bellevue Baptist. Aunt Dudie is pretty Jolly right now. The family wishes to thank all the staff and nurses at Bright Glade Nursing Home for their TLC during her stay there and also to the very kind folks at Crossroads Hospice Care. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
