Elizabeth Henson's Obituary
Elizabeth Inez Armstrong Henson, 82, died September 26, 2014 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born August 17, 1932 in Lee County, MS to Grady W. and Eppy K. Armstrong. Liz was a graduate of Saltillo High School, earned an Associate of Science at Northeast Junior College, and Bachelors, Masters and Specialist degrees in Education at Mississippi State University. She retired after 23 years of teaching in the Mississippi Public School System and, prior to her illness, was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mrs. Henson was predeceased by her husband, Rev. William Howard (Bill) Henson, her parents, brother, James William Armstrong of Tampa, FL, and sisters, Katherine Armstrong Ferrero of Saltillo, MS and Reba Mae Armstrong Haas of Tupelo, MS. Mrs. Henson is survived by her daughter, Pamela Henson Cain and granddaughter, Elizabeth Caroline Cain of Memphis. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30 and the funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 1 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Booneville City Cemetery in Booneville, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Liz’s name may be sent to Alzheimer’s Day Services of Memphis, Inc.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
