Elizabeth Haneghan's Obituary
ELIZABETH ANNE LOVELESS HANEGHAN, 81, retired teacher, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House. Anne spent thirty two years in the Catholic school system, with the last twenty two at Christian Brothers High School. She was a University of Mississippi graduate and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Memphis. Her career began at St. Michaels, followed by six years at St. Louis School. After leaving St. Louis School, she began the formidable task of being one of the first female teachers at CBHS where she remained for twenty two years. She was awarded the CBHS Key Club Hall of Fame faculty service award in 1995. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars. After retirement, Anne became an avid bridge player, meeting many wonderful friends whom she treasured. In addition, one of the great joys of her life was encountering former student who reinforced her thirty two years of teaching. Mrs. Haneghan, widow of Captain William J. Haneghan, Sr., USNR, is survived by three sons, William J. Haneghan, Jr. of Denver, CO, Robert M. Haneghan, and Patrick S. Haneghan, both of Memphis, and one grandson, Bryan P. Haneghan. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9 at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at Saint Louis Church, where she was a communicant, with entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
