Elizabeth "Betsy" dePoincy's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betsy” Fay dePoincy passed away at Methodist Healthcare Hospice on March 1, 2014 at 11:16 a.m. at the age of 76. Betsy was born in Memphis, TN in 1937. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1955 and attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA. She earned her Private Pilot License in 1994 when she was 57, and firmly believed that flying brought her closer to God. She enjoyed traveling around the world, especially eco-travel to such places as Africa, Antarctica and Central America, and visited the Galapagos Island four times. Her favorite way to travel was with her children and grandson. Betsy was a communicant of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection, where her funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Ernie Deblasio officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Betsy was predeceased by her husband, Clifford J. dePoincy, father W.F. “Gerald” Fay, mother Zelda O. Fay, sister “Sudie” F. Galliano, and brother, Paul D. Fay. Betsy is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Erin F. Tosh and Suzanne M. dePoincy; grandson, Eugene V. dePoincy; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Larry Morgan. Millicent Mayronne, and Gere F. Davies: many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews, and long time friends and classmates. Also many very special friends at Kirby Pines Estates who helped care for Betsy with their love, prayers, and friendship.
