Elizabeth Hines Burns' Obituary
Elizabeth Hines Burns died at her home in Memphis, TN. She was 84 years old. She was born in Shaw, Mississippi and was a long time resident of Memphis, TN. She graduated from Tech High School of Memphis and returned to school later in life to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Geriatric Studies from the University of Memphis. She served her country during World War II as an aeronautical engineer. She was recruited into the elite Curtis-Wright Cadette Program of Purdue University and worked in the Fuselage and Wing Design Department designing military aircraft. She also worked at the Rotary Lift and Toddle House of Memphis, as an Accountant and Bookkeeper. She managed several businesses with her husband, Frank H. Burns and was the owner of two Pizza Man Restaurants. She was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church and a volunteer for the Memphis Suicide and Crisis Intervention Hot Line. She had a love of animals and traveled extensively.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Burns Sr., and her son, Frank H. Burns Jr. (Sonny). She has a surviving brother, David Hines of Hickory Withe, TN. She has two daughters, Linda Chitwood of Mississippi and Jacquelyn Burns of Fairfax, VA. She has twin granddaughters, Victoria and Shelby Burns, of Fairfax, VA.The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20 the funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.Donations should be made to the Memphis Humane Society or charity of choice.
