Elizabeth "Betty" J. Brooks' Obituary
Elizabeth Jane Brooks, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, with her loving husband by her side.
Elizabeth was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and she had lived in the Memphis, Tennessee area for over 50 years.
She dedicated 30 years of service to the Germantown Police Department, where she worked as an administrator for the Chief of Police, before retiring.
Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose Scurti, of Bristol, PA. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Brooks; her son, William Burns, of Viera, Florida; and her stepchildren, Connie Britt and Tony Brooks of Olive Branch, Mississippi. She was a proud grandmother to Kendall Barnett of NY, Connor Barnett of TN, Dylan Britt of MS, Colton Brooks and Grace Brooks, both of East TN.
Elizabeth is also survived by her sibling and in-laws, including her sister, Janet Halfhill of Levittown, PA; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Brooks, and sister-in-law, Linda Brooks of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her brother-in-law, Monty Bonner, and sister-in-law, Nita Bonner of Eads, Tennessee; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Dunn of Sun City, Arizona.
She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews residing in Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee, and New Jersey; as well as many cherished cousins.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Elizabeth’s life at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Popular Avenue, Memphis Tennessee on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 10:30am to 11:30am with service to follow at 11:30am in the Fireside Chapel. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her years of service, and the love she shared with those around her.
