Elise Wilson's Obituary
ELISE ROBERTS WILSON, 75, died February 24, 2012 after a long bout with lung cancer. A native Memphian, she was the daughter of James Nebhut Roberts and Irene Hyman Roberts. Elise is survived by her husband, Robert L. Wilson, her son, Daniel Beck Lawrie Jr. of Memphis; her daughters, Danise Lawrie Murphy of West Memphis, AR, Amy Lawrie Gibson and husband Doug Gibson of Marianna, AR and Rene Lawrie Cosgrove and husband David Cosgrove of Huntsville, AL, and Valerie Wilson Giblin and husband Greg Giblin of Franklin, TN. Elise leaves 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves 2 sisters, Sally Roberts Tripp of Hendersonville, TN and Irene Roberts Moore and husband Phillip Moore of Oakland, TN. Elise is preceded in death by one sister, Sue Roberts Ledes and Dr. Claude Ledes of Memphis, TN. Elise graduated from Lausanne School in Memphis and attended Southern Methodist University. She was an active member of The Women’s Exchange of Memphis and served on the Board of Directors. Elise was past President of the Town & Country Garden Club. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church of Memphis. Elise enjoyed traveling, gardening, entertaining family and friends, as well as playing bridge and MahJongg. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Poplar Avenue, from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, February 26. The service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 27, at Christ United Methodist Church, Wilson Chapel, followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to The Women’s Exchange of Memphis and The Trinity Baptist Hospice House in Collierville.
