Eleanor R. Moore's Obituary
Born into an adventure, Eleanor Ruth Hoffman was the first daughter her parents received into the world after emigrating to Michigan from post World War I Germany. Before long she set her sights on the big city of Chicago, around the lake shore from her home, and moved there as a young woman. Seeking independence, a good job, the fun of new relationships, she rubbed shoulders with great poets (Carl Sandberg) and movie stars (Robert Wagner). Eventually, she settled on Dan Moore, a mid-western young man recently returned from World War II. She became a mom and they raised four children as Dan’s job took them to Pittsburgh, Washington DC, New Orleans, and Memphis. The latter, they decided was the best place to settle, but took family vacations to the Rocky Mountains and Grand Canyon. Their kids grew up and spread around the world. Eleanor and Dan visited England, Europe, and Japan. She was a great mother who helped her kids gain wings and fly. They always knew she loved them, and all four have returned today from far and wide to celebrate her life.
