Elbert L. Thomas' Obituary
Elbert “Eb” L. Thomas, Jr., 69, died on May 25, 2018, due to lung issues. He had a lung transplant in 2002. He was the son of the late Elizabeth and Elbert Thomas. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Myra Thomas and his brother, Greg Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Memphis; sisters, Allison Totten (Roger) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Elizabeth “Boo” Gardo (Gary) of Memphis, and Lydia Simmons of Newark, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Sally Davis of Smyrna, Tennessee, Debby Thomas of Germantown, Tennessee and, Robbie King (Roy) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; eight nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews. Eb was retired from First Horizon National Corp., where he served in several executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Foundation for Transplants and Room at the Inn. Eb graduated from Kingsbury High School, The University of Memphis, and Southern Illinois University. He was an officer in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Eb was an active member of Germantown United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Team Read, Hospitality Hub, Good Samaritan, Room at the Inn, St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Highland United Methodist Church, and the Prison Ministry at Hopeworks. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Saturday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m., at Germantown United Methodist Church. The burial will immediately follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh La Grange. Contributions may be made to Germantown United Methodist Church, 2331 S.
