Elaine Brademeyer McAdams' Obituary
Doris Elaine Brademeyer McAdams,
Resident of Cordova, Tennessee.
Wife of the late Thomas H. McAdams Jr. of Memphis.
Born January 18, 1939, she was a lifelong Memphian.
Departed this life on June 19, 2022 at Baptist Hospital Memphis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Herbert Brademeyer and Jimmie Ethel Langston Brademeyer. A brother, James Herbert Brademeyer. A sister, Edna Brademeyer Whitten.
Elaine worked for the Memphis Cotton Exchange, where she would chalk the prices of cotton on the ceiling high chalkboard for the Global Cotton Economy Market. This is where she met her future husband, who was a Cotton Broker for the Exchange.
A career change took place later, as she went into the healthcare field and became a long-time employee as an office nurse for Dr. Harold G. Farley at his medical practice in Memphis.
As an avid gardener, she dedicated her yard as a wildlife habitat. Flora, fauna, feathers and fur were always welcome and abundant there. “Yard of the Month” awards were numerous for her and she took great pleasure in receiving them.
Her devotion to nature involved volunteering with Wildlife Rehabilitation organizations and Veterinarians, where she had the opportunity to provide care of God’s little creatures and nurse them back to health, ultimately seeing them on their way back to the wild, which was such a joyous occasion for her.
Being a long-time member of the Colonial Country Club gave her the ability to enjoy her other passion, Golf. She was a fierce competitor on the fairways and greens. Volunteering to work the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic Gold Tournament was always very meaningful to her.
Painting, sketching, stitching and sewing were a few of her other pastimes. Her creativity knew no boundaries. Pulling out her power tools for a project was also common place.
Her dedication to her family and numerous friends was endless and her love was enormous.
She was a long-time member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Elaine is survived by her sister, Katherine B. Crane of Oakland, Tn.; niece, Glenda Talley (Russ) of Pensacola, Fl.; niece, Kathy Crane of Oakland, Tn.; nephew John Crane (Linda) of Savannah, Tn. Along with many lifelong friends.
Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery will be handling arrangements and services will be announced at a later date.
