Edward Lindsey Rucks' Obituary
Edward Lindsey Rucks, 82, Retired Memphis City Prosecutor, died suddenly August 18, 2013. Services will be at 6:30 pm Monday, August 26, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a communicant and choir member. Mr. Rucks served as Assistant City Attorney, Assistant County Attorney, Deputy Divorce Proctor and Assistant District Attorney General. He was also Staff Attorney for Holiday Inns, Inc. and Vice President and General Council at Dobbs Houses, Inc. He was a former member of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations. Mr. Rucks was an Army Infantry Veteran of the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Captain, later transferring to the Marine Corps Reserve, in which he was a Major. He was also a graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy and attended Rhodes College and Vanderbilt University School of Law, graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Mr. Rucks leaves behind his wife of forty-four years, Janice Dandridge Rucks, a son, Edward L. Rucks of St. Petersburg, Florida; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Craft-Belger, of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Virginia Acuff and Mrs. Rachel Sejas of Memphis, TN; five grandsons, two grand-daughters, one great grandson and three great grand-daughters. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Wounded Warrior Project. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., August 26, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 2300 Hickory Crest, Memphis TN, 38119. Interment will be at West Tennessee Veteran Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
