Edward Hay's Obituary
Edward Neil Hay (Neil) went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 1, at St. Francis hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Memphis and graduated from Treadwell High School in 1949 where he won many awards for his outstanding performance on the football field. He attended Holmes Junior College in Mississippi on a football scholarship.He joined the Air National Guard and was called into active duty in 1951.He became an electrician for the EWU #474.Neil was a life-long, devoted Christian and a member of First Evangelical Church for the last 16 years where he was an active member of the LLL Senior Citizens Group and the Encouragers Class and did volunteer electrical work for the Neighborhood School for many years and prior to that he served as a deacon and elder in the Presbyterian Church.His parents, Lee and Pauline Hay, and a daughter, Lisa Ann Hay McMinn, precede him in death. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Robbye Stovall Hay. He also leaves sons: Jeff Hay (Dana) and Barry Hay (April), both of Memphis, daughter Tina Hay Clarke (Marty) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Preston, Christine, Delaney, Lawson and Brooks Hay and Katelyn and Brooke Ann Clarke; sisters Barbara Ross of Memphis and Paula Clarkson of Sevierville, TN.Everyone who knew Neil admired him for his unfailing honesty and integrity. His spiritual gift was service and he always had a helping hand and time for those in need.Visitation will be Monday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Chapel at First Evangelical Church at 735 Ridge Lake Blvd., with the funeral service immediately following at noon in the Sanctuary. The family requests that any memorials be given to the Missions Fund at First Evangelical Church.
