Edward Fischer's Obituary
Edward Allen Fischer, 93, died Saturday, December 12. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he worked forty-three years for United States Steel Corporation, beginning in St. Louis as an office boy at age eighteen and retiring in 1976 as an award-winning salesman for the Supply Division in the Tennessee-Arkansas-Mississippi region. A dedicated Lutheran, Ed served the church in many capacities, especially as a member of Memphis Missouri Synod congregations Trinity, Holy Cross, and Cross of Calvary. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Ruby Akin Fischer, and by his sister Dorothy Fischer Siemer of Teutopolis, Illinois. He is survived by his sister Viola Fischer Busch of Rockford Illinios, three daughters, Barbara (David) Crippen, Linda (Wayne) Gossert, and Nancy (Jim) Sellers, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 15 with services at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, both at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Methodist Alliance Hospice or to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
