I can’t remember the exact day that I met Ed, but it had to be more than 20 years ago. We cliqued almost immediately. Ed had a warm personality that just made you feel like an old friend no matter the length of your acquaintance. He was smart with a dry wit. When I’d see him in a meeting we’d always sit near each other if the opportunity were there. If not I’d find a way to go over and tease him. Like a kid I’d pass him, hit him on the back and walk the other way or try some other prank. He always knew it was me no matter how many people were near him. For years we lost touch when we went different directions in our work. I ran into he and his wife outside of Huey’s on Madison and the years disappeared. We both came back to Community Development in Memphis. That was so exciting for me and made me extremely happy. He was a like an older brother plus he was a trusted work colleague. That was a blessing and a bonus. I will miss him greatly.
