Edward Buckalew's Obituary
Edward “Buck” Buckalew, 85, a long time resident of Memphis, TN, passed away Thursday, May 14 2009 at Methodist Hospital-Germantown. He was born on April 19, 1924 in Laurel, MS.Following his discharge from the Navy, he opened Buck’s Amoco in Memphis in 1953 at Park and Haynes. He operated the station until 1976. During his retirement, he worked part time for Endoco. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Memphis for over 50 years.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Buckalew, two children; Carl Buckalew and Bonnie Brown, both of Memphis, a brother, Fr. Jack Buckalew of Bremerton, WA, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.Visitation will be Saturday, May 16 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held Sunday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. also at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 5470 Raleigh-LaGrange Rd, Memphis TN 38134.
