Edward P. Anton's Obituary
Edward "Ed" Peter Anton Jr., 72, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Born on December 5, 1953, in Rahway, New Jersey, Ed was the son of Edward Peter Anton Sr. and Helen Charneski Anton.
He spent his early years in Iselin, New Jersey, where he attended St. Cecilia School, before moving to Clifton at the age of eight. He graduated from Clifton High School and attended William Paterson University.
Ed built a long and accomplished career in the logistics industry, beginning with early roles at UPS and Flying Tigers, experiences that ultimately led him to Federal Express. He joined FedEx in 1989 and dedicated more than 30 years to the company, earning its prestigious Five Star Award - the highest honor bestowed by the organization.
For the past 30-plus years, Memphis was his home, and in recent years he was an active and beloved member of the Germantown Plantation Senior Living community. There, he led the weekly rosary, was instrumental in having monthly mass added to the weekly communion services and contributed to daily life by calling bingo and enjoying card games with friends. A devoted man of faith, he was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Ed was an avid sports fan, especially loyal to the New York Mets, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers basketball. Known for his quick wit and love of humor, he never missed an opportunity to make others laugh, often channeling his appreciation for classic comedy, including Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
Above all, Ed was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his three daughters, Taylor (Thomas) Plant, Payton Anton, and Madison Anton; his cherished grandson, Kai Anton Jones, and granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Plant, who brought him immense joy - especially in his role as “Papa.” He is also survived by his sister, Joann Reimels; his brother, Tom (Ellen) Anton; his nephew, William Reimels Jr.; his niece, Kim (Tim) Anderson; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Anton, and brother-in-law, Bill Reimels, Sr.
Ed will be remembered for his faith, humor, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cross Catholic Outreach.
Service for Edward will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 2:00pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends for visitation beginning at 1:30pm.
