“Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady” was exactly what my grandmother was. She was at the very least the most wonderful and amazing woman and lady I ever knew. I looked up to her in so many ways that I can not describe how much she influenced my life. She was gentle, kind and most of all loving. She would do anything she could for anyone she loved and most wonderful and amazingly, people that she did not know. She was graceful, and the lover of many things including my amazing grandfather Col. Fred H Sitler. No matter what, she would defend her family against any obstacles or odds and as in any family there were many. No matter the trials and tribulations of the family, my grandmother and grandfather were the backbone and your memory will continue to be. My aunt said that she wasn’t much into gardening but enjoyed her gardening groups that she was in, on that note I spent many days in the yard with my grandmother looking at the flowers, talking about where they came from and watching my grandfather take care of them. We spent many hours sitting on a blanket in the yard talking, taking pictures and just enjoying the wonderful weather. When my grandfather was unable to continue taking care of them My mother, their daughter-in-law, Lois Sitler, my father, Fred H Sitler Jr’s, 2nd wife came and helped take care of them. I have many pictures that you took of me in that yard at the house that will always feel like home. One of my best memories was accompanying and sometimes driving my Grandmother to the base, for shopping and lunch. There so many things that I miss about her. One year my parents, my grandparents and myself took a trip for Thanksgiving to a Air Force Base in Florida and had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, my first one away from home and the rest of our family, at the officers club. I so miss these times with them. My grandmother always had the right words to say when I needed them. When I was old enough, I married into the military due to the love that I had for my grandparents and the loving draw of being a military granddaughter. When my husband deployed to Iraq, my grandmother was there to tell me that everything will be OK and to give me the helpful words that I had followed in her footsteps and be thankful for the things we have in this day that she did not have when my grandfather deployed many years before. I only hope that I will be able to always make her proud. The last thing I want to say is that no matter how many days or years that pass my love for you will only grow stronger. And knowing that I miss you with every breath of every minute of every day and think of you always. I love you. And know that you are very happy in heaven together.Christina Amanda Hally Sitler-Burns (Grand-daughter) Along with Diann Hally Taylor ( Great-Grand-daughter)
