Edmund Carl Kimmell's Obituary
Edmund Carl Kimmell was born in Denver, Colorado on August 21, 1944, to William Francis Kimmell and Marian Nystrom Kimmell. His father was an Army doctor, and his mother was a Army nurse. His family moved to Helena, Montana and later to Memphis, Tennessee.
Edmund graduated from Overton High School in Memphis where he served as equipment manager for the football team. He later graduated from the William R Moore College of Technology where he developed an interest in furniture making.
Before retiring in 2008, he worked for over 40 years in Financial Services with Belz Enterprises which manages real estate holdings across the nation, including the Peabody Hotel. He was Employee of the Year and was honored at a dinner at the Peabody Hotel.
While in Memphis he was active in the Woodland Presbyterian Church and their choir. He was also a volunteer at Le Bonheur Hospital and participated in charity functions at the Mid-South Fair.
One of his favorite activities was travel. He traveled to Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and Spain. He also took several cruises to the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Australia, and New Zealand. Some of his favorite trips included train trips across Alaska and Canada. He moved to Mississippi in 2009 to be closer to his sister and brother-in-law – Kathy and Gene Bunyard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Francis Kimmell and Marian Nystrom Kimmell.
He leaves behind the following family members: sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Gene Bunyard; nephews Clay Bunyard of DePere, Wisconsin; Chip Bunyard (Aubree) of Bossier City, Louisiana. He loved spending time with his great-niece Riley Bunyard.
A private service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
