Edith Maxine Wilbourne's Obituary
Edith Maxine McCool Wilbourne of Collierville went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2023. Maxine as she preferred to be called, was born October 20th, 1932, in the Unity Community of Attala County, MS. She was the youngest daughter of George Ray and Ada Thornton McCool. After graduating Valedictorian in High School, she came to Memphis to be interviewed at several Nursing Schools, and was accepted by all, but chose the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. In her second year of Nursing School, she met her soon to be husband, Frank R. Wilbourne, which developed into 70 years of wonderful marriage. After her graduation, and his from Memphis State College, and his military service, they moved several times with due to his employment, but later returned to Collierville after Frank retired.
Maxine is preceded in death by a daughter, Francine Lois, and survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Debra Banker (Husband- Joe); three grandchildren, Kristan Johnson (Husband- Tim); Rebecca Gaines (Husband- Jake); and Andrew Banker (Wife- Savannah); and seven great-grandchildren, Henry, James, Alice Johnson, Jovie, Belle Gaines, Benaiah, and Walker Banker, all who live in Collierville, TN. Maxine also had a niece, Toni Layer of Madison, MS., and a nephew, Frank Lassiter of Hernando, MS.
Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN. on Sunday July 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
