Eddie Lindsey's Obituary
Eddie “Jerry” Lindsey left this world, August 20, 2015,surrounded by family to be with the Lord. Jerry loved his family and God devoutly. His high school sweetheart, Angela was the love of his life throughout their 62 years of marriage. He was a role model, mentor, advisor, and supporter to his four children and spouses, Dr. Stephen Lindsey, Pamela Nelson Lindsey, Teresa Weeden (Gary), Michael Lindsey (Connie), John Lindsey (Ann), 10 grandchildren, Jason Lindsey, Kate Snyder (Daniel), Carolyn Mallory (Cameron), Lindsey Weeden, Nick Lindsey, Rachel Lindsey, Hannah Lindsey, Kelsey Weeden, Zack Lindsey, and William Lindsey, along with great granddaughters, Norah Mallory and June Snyder. Jerry was born on March 9, 1933 to Ed and Dora Lindsey in Branford, Florida. He graduated from Ocala High School where he met his beloved Angela. He attended the University of Florida as a “Forever” Florida Gator Fan that later transferred to a “Faithful” University of Memphis Tiger Fan. As a Sergeant in the Army, Jerry served proudly in the Korean War. After the war, he came home to start a family and quickly advanced in his career of 30 years with Gulf Oil Corporation. Jerry was a faithful and active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He served in such ministries as Wednesday Night Dinners, Jail Ministry, and Knights of Columbus, but his favorite was as a lector at mass. Jerry’s sense of humor, his ability to make others smile, and his “never met a stranger” personality enabled him to encompass a large circle of friends within his profession, church and community. Jerry, “Dad”, “Pop”, “Papaw”, and “Friend”, will be missed dearly by friends and family! Memorial Park Funeral Home will host the visitation on Sunday, August 23rd from 5p.m. to 7p.m. followed by a Rosary service. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 24th at 10:00a.m.with a Mass celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit followed by the burial service at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Church of the Holy Spirit after the cemetery service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “The Ladies of Charity”.
