Ed Murray's Obituary
Edward James Murray, 73, died on April 10th, 2015 at his home in midtown. Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his beloved Joan Ray, his sister Peggy Ranahan, seven nieces and three nephews, and step-brother Arthur Durning. He was a long-time communicant at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.Ed was a loving father to his three children, daughter Holly Hughes and sons Darryl and Eric Murray; and a wonderful grandfather to Joshua Smith-Murray, Heather Moore, William Murray, Caitlin Hughes and great-granddaughter Kyla Moore.After retiring from the Navy’s medical corps, Ed distinguished himself as a healthcare administrator with posts at Health First, Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and West Clinic. He was also president of the Medical Group Management Association.Visitation will be held at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Avenue, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 15th. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday April 16 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday April 17 at 10:45 a.m. 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made in Ed’s name to the Wings Cancer Foundation, 100 N. Humphreys Blvd., Memphis, TN 38120.
