Ed Goddard's Obituary
Herman Edward Goddard passed away on July 4, 2021, at Methodist Germantown Hospital, at the age of 94 years.
He was born to parents, Charles and Louise Goddard on February 28, 1927, in Memphis, TN. Ed attended Messick High School. Soon after graduating he entered the US Army and assisted in building the first air strip in Japan.
After returning to the states, he began working for the Coca Cola Bottling company. He was employed there for 50 years. Ed married “the most beautiful woman he had ever seen”, Leatrice lovingly called Leabie by him on August 18th, 1951.
Ed was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was an active member of Joy Sunday School Class. He served on the staff Parish Committee and chaired the Trustees. He enjoyed helping his church anyway he could.
Ed enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of 69 years, Leatrice, daughter Joy Goddard, son Jan Goddard (Terry), daughter Judy McLain (Stan), granddaughter Christy Parks (Jon), grandson Justin McLain (Jenna) and great granddaughter Olivia Joy McLain.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 8th, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with a celebration of life at 11:30 a.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Asbury UMC or Asbury UMC Food Pantry.
