Earl E. Hull Jr.'s Obituary
Earl E. Hull, Jr.
Pop Pop Earl was born July 20, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio. At age 16 he was so proud that the first moon landing occurred on his birthday. Also at this time of his life he was an avid bowler and received many trophies and awards for his skill. Earl moved to Atlanta where he learned multi-family housing maintenance and was then transferred to Memphis in 1982. In Memphis he continued his education in the HVAC field and received his Master Gas and Mechanical licenses. He loved training new maintenance associates to help them further their careers in the field that he loved. He met his wife of 41 years, Sheril in April 1984. They were married December 26,1984, in Paragould, AR. At that time Memphis required blood tests for a marriage license Arkansas did not, Earl was not a fan of needles. They moved to and reside in Olive Branch, MS in 2000. He is survived by his wife, two sons; Shane (Suzanne), Earl Matthew, one daughter Morgan (Cameron), five grandchildren; Dalton Wade, Seth Aaron, Mia Emersyn, Makinley Jade, Marlee Rose, and his sister Linda (Richard). There are four brothers and sisters-in-laws, four nieces, seven nephews, seven great nieces, four great nephews, and one unknown arriving soon. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Helen, brother-in-law Richard, mother-in-law Betty, father-in-law Sonny, and nephew Jared. Earl loved his children dearly, but those grands were the bomb for him. He was a fabulous husband and father. Being a jokester and causing trouble whenever he was in the room was a goal, everyone was fair game for his jokes. One thing about Earl, he never met a stranger. He got hooked on playing Santa each Christmas and bringing joy to children. Mia would brag that her POP POP was Santa. He loved to travel, visiting theme parks for the best roller coasters especially in Ohio and Orlando. He began cruising for his 40th anniversary in 2024, returned from a cruise in January 2026 with another planned to Alaska in September 2026. As Linda said “He is and will forever be THE DUKE OF EARL”. We will miss you immensely. Love you, see you soon but not yet.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 16, 2026 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119
