Earl Funk's Obituary
Earl Jay Funk, 82, passed away suddenly June 21, 2015. He was born April 30, 1933 in Kansas City, KS. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Mary Vines Funk; daughters, Cathy Underwood (William) and Joan Funk; and grandchildren, Ryan Underwood (Karen) and Samantha Underwood. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Romona Funk; and his parents, Milda Hale and Jay Jacob Funk. Earl had a joyous, recognizable laugh and was a kind, respectful man. Even though he was a successful businessman and entrepreneur, he remained humble and unpretentious. In addition to spending time with friends and family, Earl enjoyed traveling, driving his little white convertible, and ballroom dancing. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The private interment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests any memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.
