E. Jack Wohrman's Obituary
Doctor Earl Jack Wohrman, senior, 90, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home in Memphis. He was born July 19, 1926 in Memphis. He is predeceased by his wife, Jane Fowler Wohrman, his mother, Mary Patterson and his step-father Pat Patterson. He leaves his son, Jack Wohrman, junior (Pam), his son Robert Wohrman (Debbie), his companion Paula Grabon, his grandchildren: Jack Wohrman, III (Liza), Doty Wohrman Yates (Tripp), Tyler Wohrman (Anna) and Courtney Wohrman, and his 4 great-grandchildren: Caroline, Rebecca, and Allison Yates, and Jack Wohrman, IV. He graduated from South Side High School and from Memphis State University where he played basketball for Zach Curlin. He graduated from the University of College Dentistry in 1949 after which he began practicing Dentistry in Memphis. He then moved to Wichita Falls, TX after enlisting in the Air Force where he reached the rank of Captain. After 2 years of service he returned to Memphis where he continued practicing until the time of his death. He was a member of American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and on the Board of Directors of Memphis Dental Society. He was also a member of Memphis Dental Legion, Shelby Dental Study Club, and a member of Chickasaw Country Club. He was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a life member of Alchemia Shrine Temple where he was also a Jester. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, hunter and fisherman. But his greatest loves were his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am on Wednesday, June 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 am followed by interment at grave site. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to: Church Health Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.The services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.” The obituary and service information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
