E. Lamar Kimzey's Obituary
E. Lamar Kimzey, 87, passed away on September 27, 2012, in Memphis, TN. He was born on July 8, 1925 in Grenada, MS. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, serving as a tank driver in Germany. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, spearheaded for Gen. Patton, and received the Bronze Star. After the war, he worked for The Wm Wrigley Jr., Co. in Memphis. Over his career, his job took him to Birmingham, AL and Ellicott City, MD. He retired from the company in 1986 as District Sales Manager of the Mid-Atlantic States. He and his wife moved back to Memphis after retiring. He married his “true love”, Bess Holt Kimzey, on February 19, 1949 and they shared 63 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, Bess Holt Kimzey; his two children- son, Dr. Gary Wayne Kimzey (Jane), and daughter, Leigh Ann Kimzey; three grandchildren, Kevin Nicholas Kimzey (Lauren), Kelly Ann Kimzey, and Kerri Brand (Josh); and one great-grandson, Nate Kimzey, born on September 3rd. He loved spending time at the family cabin in Pickwick, fishing and boating. He also loved golfing and working brain teaser puzzles. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, October 1st, at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 5-7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
