Dustin Oliver Tapia's Obituary
February 10, 1983 – October 24, 2025
Dustin Oliver Tapia lived his life full throttle and with a heart as big as his smile. Born on February 10, 1983, Dustin left this world far too soon on October 24, 2025, but his larger-than-life spirit continues to shine in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A proud fan of the Memphis Tigers, Dustin’s energy on game days was contagious, his cheers loud enough to rival the Liberty Bowl itself. He was happiest surrounded by family and friends, standing behind a grill with a spatula in hand, making sure everyone was fed and having a good time. Every May, he looked forward to the roar of engines and the thrill of the Indy 500, a tradition that perfectly matched his love for excitement and adventure.
Dustin was also a skilled craftsman whose love for woodworking and design led him to establish 901 Millworks, a company that reflected his creativity, precision, and pride in building things that last. His dedication to his craft and his hands-on approach inspired everyone who worked alongside him.
More than anything, Dustin had an unshakable devotion to his family and his furbabies. He was a proud dog and cat dad to Sophie, Luke, Bella, Ollie, and Lucy, who brought endless joy to his life. His bond with his pets was deep, They were not just animals to him, they were family. Dustin could often be found with his loyal companions by his side, whether taking them on long walks or simply lounging together on the couch. His love for animals extended to a passionate support for animal welfare, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Memphis Humane Society, in Dustin's honor.
Dustin leaves behind his beautiful wife, Cindy Tapia; his mother, Ruth Tapia; his brother, Erik Tapia; his father-in-law, Donald Dennehy; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him deeply; countless nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his love and laughter; and a wide circle of friends who will miss his generosity, loyalty, and unforgettable personality.
Services to celebrate Dustin’s life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.
Dustin’s presence filled every room, every conversation, and every gathering, and his laughter will echo in our hearts forever. His memory will live on in the love he gave, the joy he brought, and the countless stories that continue to be shared by those lucky enough to have known him.
We will always love you, D-DOT.
